Too Much Time
I have been a full-time mother for 20 years. Now, that our youngest has gone off to college, I have more time on my hands than I know what to do with. I’ve been pestering my husband to either take me on a vacation or renovate the house with me or whatever just so that I have something to do. He always said that he didn’t have the time because of his numerous architectural projects.
Frustrated, I took on a project of my own. I’ve always liked screen houses and wanted to have one built in our backyard. But since, my husband didn’t have the time to go about it, I did. I bought some supplies like screen, nails and some pre-cut wood and armed with a hammer, I turned our open patio into a screened one. I finished my project just in time for one of my husband’s business meetings at home. Apparently, one of his colleagues complimented him on his handiwork with the screened patio and his ability to still make time for the home despite the many projects. Of course, he accepted the compliment graciously but never let me do any renovations in our home alone again. Fine with me and I am saying this with a great big smile.
