Summer Is Near!

In a little over a month, summer will be here. Some people consider it officially summer when the kids are out and there is no more school. This is sometime between first to third week of June. Preschoolers normally get off earlier while the older kids, from high school to college, get to take their summer vacations latter part of June.

Many parents are already planning activities for their children. There are summer camps to attend (ready those camping tents!), art and dance lessons, sleepovers and play time with the neighborhood kids. College kids usually have their own activities. There are those who take extra classes so as to fast track their schooling. There are those who head towards the beaches. Whatever these kids’ activities it is still a time of learning for them, just like they are in school.

How to Prepare for a Camping Trip

It might be a bit early but it is always a good thing to plan ahead. Even if the weather is still chilly and snow still falls from time to time, it can be the best time to start planning for a camping vacation. Just the thought of bright sunshine and blue skies will brighten up dreary days. Check out camping site possibilities and make an inventory of your camping equipment. You can also look into new offerings in stores. There is bound to be something that will update your camping gear.

The first thing you should do is determine who are coming with you to your camping adventure. Preparations for a group of friends will be different from preparations for the family. Knowing the number and personality of parties in the trip will make determining requirements easy. You can pin point the right places to investigate. You will also be able to plan on the right camping equipment to take along.

What Type of Camper Are You?

When going camping you have to bring camping equipment with you. Deciding what to take can be determined by finding out what kind of camper you are. There is the minimalist camper who can get by with the minimal amount of camping gear and takes only the basics with him. This type of camper tries to make their outdoors experience as best as they can. Then there is the gear-oriented camper who wants to be comfortable and be prepared for anything.

I fall in the gear-oriented category. During my camping trip I took a lot of gear with me as I am a creature of comfort. For example, with all the propane camp stoves out in the market, I would rather cook my food using a stove than using a fire. My wife, on the other hand, is of the minimalist type. It really depends on the camper on how much or little gear they want to take with them when going camping.
