camping supplies

February 24th, 2010

How do you plan for a camping trip? Your preparation should start with a checklist of things that should be arranged and a list of all the items to bring. One of the first things you should think about is the location. It should be a spot where you can enjoy the things that you and your companions will enjoy doing. Is it a fishing trip? Do you have children in your group? This will determine if you need to make reservations and whatever else is needed for the trip.

Every camping trip will require a list of camping supplies. This will include shelter and sleeping gear, clothing, food and cooking implements. High on the list should be a first aid and emergency kit. Your choice of shelter will depend on how comfortable or rough you want your camping trip to be. It will depend on a lot of factors including the season, the number of people in your group and if it includes children. Whatever you choose, it should be able to protect from the elements.

The benefits of camping for kids cannot be questioned. The activity fosters independence in the child while instilling a feel for team work. The child learns to get along with different kinds a people, a broader experience compared to the limited exposure with school friends and family. But for younger kids, going to camp might be a drastic move. Small kids are still liable to homesickness. For children younger than 7 years old, backyard camping can be a preparation for joining summer camp.

Spending a night under the stars in your own backyard will not need a lot of equipment. You will need some kids sleeping bags, a flash light and some games. Perk that up with some music to drown down weird noises. A bag of marshmallows for roasting will be incentive enough to go out into the night. Parents can help the kids with this part of the fun.
