February 20th, 2009

Send your children off on their first school camping trip fully equipped with all the right gear. Aside from tents to shelter them for the night, junior size Browning sleeping bags will keep them comfortable while they sleep. These sleeping bags have adequate insulation to keep in the heat and ward off the cold.

Sleeping bags come in two insulations. Down fill sleeping bags are much warmer and heavier and are best recommended to be used during cold camping seasons. Fiber fill sleeping bags are much lighter than down fill and also cooler. Down fill types will also take up extra space in your packs than fiber fill which are more collapsible.

February 19th, 2009

How many times have you gone camping, gotten injured and just jury-rigged a bandage? Whenever you’re planning to go camping or just plain day-trekking, it’s always good to be prepared. Camping first aid kits come with everything a camper would need while outdoors. Some kits even have supplies should you get stranded or lost. Camping kits should be an essential backpack addition.

It’s not only sensible to have these kits with you during trips, it’s practical too. They’re really very affordable. camp stove

February 6th, 2009

A funny debate happened when we were planning our family camping. We already had our essentials covered (tents, clothing, flashlights, etc.) but we couldn’t decide on how we were going to cook our food. Dad wanted to have grilled food and was about to get a portable grill when Mom suddenly decided that she wanted a camp stove so she could cook. Dad cried, “why on earth would you still want to cook on a camping trip?!”

The way they were arguing was actually hilarious. They kept on and on about the pros and cons of cooking versus grilling to the point that they were actually listing it down. In the end Dad’s grill won, because we liked the idea of enjoying marshmallows before going to sleep.

Camping is fun, and being ready for any emergency that can arise while outdoors can keep that fun. Since campers are exposed to nature’s elements where anything can happen, being alert, focused, and prepared with the proper equipment can prevent any hassles from happening.

Proper lighting is one of the key necessities during a camping trip. Apart from a long-lasting lamp that will illuminate the camp site, smaller light lamps are also necessary for searching. Mag lights and shake flashlights are ideal because of their stronger light and battery life. These flashlights also come in many sizes, from portable to search-light size, so they well serve the campers’ needs.
